Photographs of landscapes obscured by fog, leaks of light through patchy Venetian blinds and sheer curtains, and observed shadowy, passerby.

I meander, rootless, placeless.

Small towns across America are recurring settings for my photographic investigations; despite their similarities, they retain an individuality of their own. The journeys I take to these towns are pilgrimages to proxy homes, extended trips to unfamiliar places that feel similar to the towns where I spent my early childhood.

An overheard phone call, a glance through a window. Both are noticed.

Through short writings on the road I pursue a balance between the poetic and the prosaic, conveying snapshots of my experiences.  My practice is a meditation on the power of melancholic imagery and interpersonal interaction between strangers and friends alike. I ask disparate images to work in concert and in service to an imagined narrative approaching autobiography through symbolism. Each image draws out a tension between the moment of its creation and journaled queries written in reflection.
